About me
I write my books in Norwegian. Whereas I used to make my photographs with the silver of the film, I now work digitally, with the light which is always wandering, with my presence, imagination and choice of frame. The decisive act of cropping, of deciding about what the edge is (to be).
Each year, I leave Norway with laptop and camera – for Budapest, northern Bangladesh and eastern India.
As a state of being, travelling is close to writing, as one does not know which “I” will surface at the end.
Being away from Norway is not about writing being suspended but about being present in those other places, and fully so – in the folk art and folk music traditions of Bengal, and with the people of my heart.
